Cupcakes and Cocktails {the Scoop}

Whew!  Glad to be back, but it's been a crazy re-entry from our sweet getaway to the beach!  I left you with some eye candy from my annual Cupcakes and Cocktails party, so now here's the scoop!  :)

I pull out any extra inventory and samples I have and put a price tag on everything-- $5, $10, or $15.  Yes, you read right!  Some products originally retailed for over $80, but my goal is to clear out my basement and recoup a little investment along the way (a little investment).  My customers and hostesses all get invitations and by now they know that it's first come, first served. :)

When I set up the refreshments, I keep it super simple and use lots of Willow House goodies to decorate and display food!  Remember the Hawthorne Hurricane I gave away in January?  Here she is filled with split peas.  I tucked a juice glass about 3/4 way down into the peas to house my tulips.  I know some like their tulips perky (drop a copper penny into the water to perk them up), but I love the graceful droop myself.

My Adair Upside Down Cake Stand held fresh veggies and hummus. {$49.96}

Strawberries in my Ruffled Glass Bowl. {$29.96}

My faithful Entertaining Bucket and Tray for chilled wine and champagne. {$39.96}

My Galveston Step-Out Stand displayed homemade cupcakes...love this product because the steps fold in making it a simple three-tiered stand if you want!

Homemade goodies.

Low-cal lemonade in my Savannah Beverage Server for my non-cocktail drinkers.

I set up a very simple display of my favorite current products and usually offer a shipping discount or other perk for any new catalog orders.  Check out the Must Have mini-Plant Markers in my Signature FlowerPot!  Six markers for $19.96-- wouldn't these make great little teacher gifts?  Pop them into a small potted flower or herb and you've got a sweet little gift for a sweet little price.

I had a good turn-out, sold some products, took some orders and got caught up with some hostess and customer friends... can you think of a nicer Sunday afternoon?

All products shown here can be purchased on my website e-store and shipped directly to you.  Happy shopping and Happy Decorating, friends!

Eye Candy :)

I hosted my annual Cupcakes and Cocktails Birthday Party for my business last weekend.  It's one of my favorite parties to do because I keep the food simple, the product display simple, spread out the new catalogs for everyone to drool over {and order from} AND I sell tons of discontinued or gently worn samples in my dining room.  Gals come for the sale, enjoy a sweet treat, and fall in love with my new products-- all in one afternoon!

El Presidente (aka Mr. Heidi) and I are on a short beach getaway to celebrate my 44th birthday so I thought I would leave you with a few photos of the set up for the party.  I'll post more details next week, but enjoy in the meantime.  And don't forget to check out the HUGE final Mondays in March Giveaway HERE.  You have until Monday the 28th at 7pm EST to enter. :)

Projects, Projects...and Fancy Little Things Giveaway

I keep hoping I'm going to make some headway on the projects that are on my list-- or even in mid-stream!  But then things get busy at home or work and they go on the back burner again.  I'm very much a project person.  I like the feeling of being involved in a project-- whether it's a community service, church group, work, or home project.  And even better is the feeling that comes with successful completion!

With the intent of spurring myself on and holding myself accountable for finishing these projects, here's what's on the list to do:

Love this lamp, but it's getting a more modern shade covered in a fun fabric. :)

This sweet little urn is being made into a small lamp for my family room bookcase.

My family room bookshelves are getting a nice color on the back-- still debating on which color.  I have 3 to choose from... I'll be polling you, my faithful readers, before I launch this project!

I've had this frame for YEARS... I know, right?  I've got spray paint waiting for this one, but can't decide if I should make it part of a gallery wall or insert burlap covered cork board for a fun message center or jewery organizer.  Again, you'll be polled. :)

Remember my home office desk?  It's actually an old banquet table with great storage underneath.  I've got the new fabrics ready to roll on this one-- just have to find time to clear it off and get busy!

I'm so excited to jump on this one-- my stepson's dresser just waiting for a fresh coat of paint!

How about you?  Any projects lingering?  Maybe this can help you out...

I am thrilled to be partnering with a wonderful new website called Fancy Little Things!  Today they are offering a Too-Good-To-Be-True giveaway for all you crafty girls with projects on your list!

I Can't Resist... this Chandelier

If you're a follower of my friend Tricia over at Avolli, you've seen this beauty before:

This antique French chandelier from the 1920's just captures the imagination.  Talk about a statement piece! I absolutely adore the green crystals!  And I love its unexpected nature.  In fact, I love seeing chandeliers in spaces other than your traditional dining room.

In a bedroom fit for royalty

In the closet?  Lovely.  Maybe my favorite surprise.

Dress up the kitchen? I'm hooked!

Your spaces should be enjoyable for you and your family.  Textures, scents, sounds and sights all play a role in making this happen.  The element of surprise is a great way to keep your decor fresh and fun, and to keep you loving your spaces.

What kind of surprises do you have in your home decor?  Where would you put a fun chandelier?

Don't forget to visit my latest giveaway for this gorgeous Willow House Santorini Urn.  Entries accepted through Monday at 7pm EST.

Got the Blues? {And Another Giveaway!}

You're probably tired of reading about my passion for purple, so I thought I'd give it a rest and talk about another favorite... pops of blue.  While I was brightening my family room decor, I worked in a fair amount of celery green because it blended so well with the upholstery and wall color I already had.  But I also found myself adding a few fun touches of blue:

Like this flea market find!

I like having the flexibility to go heavier either toward the green or the blue accents.  As spring approaches, I'm craving just a little more blue.  So I started browsing online to see what was out there.

Blue Sky Lotus vase from World Market

Maren Collection from Pottery Barn

Sea Urchin platter from Pier One

Lotus Garden Stool from Ballard Designs

Some good options, right?  I love seeing just a pop or two of the blue against a sea of neutral, don't you?  Today I got a delivery from Willow House-- a product I'd ordered to place in an upcoming silent auction.

Our Santorini Urn... I'd never seen her up close before!  Notice how she found a spot on my mantle...

She looks right at home, doesn't she?

I'm in love...

I started looking at houzz.com for some inspirational photos for using blue accents in neutral decor and pulled some wonderful ones for my Blissful Blues Ideabook.  Check it out by clicking here.  All those gorgeous images only reinforced how much I love this product.  In fact, I love her so much, it's going to be hard to part with her for the silent auction!  I may have use some birthday funds to garner another. :)

And so, because I have to share the love, my THIRD Mondays in March Giveaway is one of these gorgeous Santorini Urns!

Here's the lowdown on the contest:

  • Tweet about the giveaway (mention me @heidimilton) and come back leaving me a comment that you did so.
  • Visit the Facebook post (Willow House with Heidi Milton) and leave a comment there. {1 entry}
