An Antique Sale You Don't Want to Miss!

My lap top is dead (gasp!) so while I wrestle with my husband's desk top and the photos of graduation party decorations I wanted to share with you, I thought you'd like to shop a little. :)

My friend Tricia of Avolli has announced an early retirement from her Swedish antiques business at the end of the summer.  While I hope she's not leaving the blogosphere and twitterverse for good, she's ready to take on new challenges after eight years in the antiques business. And so she's passing on incredible savings to all of us antique lovers over the next several weeks.  If you have not already popped over to Tricia's site (http://www.avolli.com/) you need to NOW!  While the discounts increase every two weeks or so, you'll risk your favorite piece being long gone if you wait until the end of July.  Today (May 22) through May 31, take 35% off her entire inventory!  Clocks, furniture, mirrors, chandeliers, decorative accessories, and more.  Tricia's inventory is amazing, but her customer service is unforgettable.  You can reach her at info@avolli.com.

Remember these wonderful antique books I bought from her this winter?

Think I need to pick up a few more and who knows what else I'll find!  Be sure to tell Tricia I sent you. :)

I've Always Been a Book Worm

Some things never change!  Remember when I found these lovelies on Tricia's blog?

Well, it truly became a case of "I Can't Resist" and I ordered a few from her fabulous shop, Avolli. Tricia hand-picked my books for me...you heard right.  She gives incredible customer service and is a sweet spirited friend to boot!  So my lovelies arrived and here they are, right at home with my handful of other meaningful antique books from my grandmother.

Tricia chose Jack London titles for me... in Swedish!

I love how the edges of these pages are marbled, just like the cover!

I added my grandmother's Louisa May Alcott book to balance the blues on the mantle.  Love the combination of colors and textures.

My other antique books moved to my coffee table on the silver tray.

Not only do I love the personal touches and slices of history these provide, but they're beautiful, too. And they can work in any decor... I've pulled together an ideabook on Houzz to show you how.

How about you?  Any vintage titles on your shelves or tables?

I Can't Resist... this Chandelier

If you're a follower of my friend Tricia over at Avolli, you've seen this beauty before:

This antique French chandelier from the 1920's just captures the imagination.  Talk about a statement piece! I absolutely adore the green crystals!  And I love its unexpected nature.  In fact, I love seeing chandeliers in spaces other than your traditional dining room.

In a bedroom fit for royalty

In the closet?  Lovely.  Maybe my favorite surprise.

Dress up the kitchen? I'm hooked!

Your spaces should be enjoyable for you and your family.  Textures, scents, sounds and sights all play a role in making this happen.  The element of surprise is a great way to keep your decor fresh and fun, and to keep you loving your spaces.

What kind of surprises do you have in your home decor?  Where would you put a fun chandelier?

Don't forget to visit my latest giveaway for this gorgeous Willow House Santorini Urn.  Entries accepted through Monday at 7pm EST.

Looky What I Found: Antique Books

I love it when I stumble on a true FIND and the price is right. Today, I popped over to my friend Tricia's blog Avolli, where she showcases Swedish antiques, furnishings and decorative pieces. She does a fabulous feature called her Product of the Day. Well today she had me at "hello!"

Look at these beauties for only $15 each:

They are leather bound and from the 1900's. Love the marbelized covers. You might remember seeing these that belonged to my grandmother on my mantle:

I can't wait to incorporate my new lovelies into my decor. I might have them on my coffee table under one of my silver pieces or propped up on my console table or book case.

Contact Tricia over at Avolli to order your own. You choose how many, she chooses which ones.

How do you decorate with books in your home?
